
Yearbook sales will be ending January 25. The flier that was sent home at the beginning of the year said January 26, but we need to change because of our deadline. You can order online at www.yearbookforever.com
Only a limited number of extra yearbooks will be ordered. If you miss the deadline, contact Anndrea Dyer to be put on the waitlist. The cost of extra yearbooks are $75 and will be due at distribution in May.

On Friday, our 7th grade recognized the 40 students who showed the most growth from CASE 1 to CASE 2 tests with a pizza party!

The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band will be taking Spring pictures next Wednesday, January 17th, during school hours.
6th grade band students will wear orange and blue. This can be school t-shirts. It does not have to be formal.
7th and 8th grade band students will wear their band uniform on top of their regular school clothes. If your student has not returned their marching uniform to school, please do this as soon as possible.
There is also a Band Parent Meeting on January 16th at 6PM. We hope you will attend.

7th graders in Mrs. Malone’s Career Exploration class were visited by engineers from JEA (Jackson Energy Authority). Zach Wadley, Tanner Johnson, and Kirk Arment spoke to students about careers in electrical, civil, and industrial engineering.

7th grade students in Career Exploration at SGCMS worked together to learn how to be effective leaders using “collaboration” and “communication” skills. Students were challenged to work in groups to raise a “helium stick” as a team and to build the tallest “spaghetti” structure using only tape, string, and spaghetti noodles.




8th grade students learned about careers in STEM with TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation) on Friday.
Branden Garcia, P.E., TDOT Region 4 Utilities, Utility Manager, Burton Hatch, TDOT Region 4 Operations, Operations District Supervisor, Eric Spencer, TDOT Region 4 Materials and Test, Transportation Project Specialist, Kara Shears, TDOT Region 4 Materials and Test, Transportation Project Specialist, Corbin Schoenberg, Engineering Specialist 2, and Tyler Flannagan, Engineering Specialist 2 spoke to students about careers, educational paths, different TDOT projects, and students’ futures.

The Booster Club is requesting parent volunteers to chaperone the Winter dance this Saturday? Volunteer forms were sent home with students on 11/29 or can be found on the Booster Club Facebook page.

Seems to be some misinformation so wanted to clear up that the Winter Dance next Saturday is not a formal.

8th grade students are busy preparing for “mock interviews” in Career Advising/Planning. Students are interviewing one another to prepare for their individual interviews that will take place next week with industry partners and district office partners.





This year's Christmas Shop will be 12-5 to 12-8 during activity times.
