SGCMS, we can't wait to see you all at the Daddy Daughter Banquet tomorrow! Please read the following information before you arrive. 5-8th grade girls need to arrive to the back parking lot around 5:45. We will ONLY allow people to come in through the back doors by the gym for the safety and integrity of the event. Check-in will be at the door. There will be two tables for registration split by the FIRST name of the adult bringing the student(s). One table for A-M another for N-Z. The dance will be from 6-8, with the 8th grade recognition starting at 6:15. While your student is not taking pictures or making a bracelet, be sure to dance and have some complimentary snacks! Pictures are also included in the registration price and will be delivered to the students a couple of weeks after the event. If a student has opted to attend the bracelet bar, we will have bags for the bracelet and encourage the adult with them to keep them in their pocket, just so they don't get lost or broken. Thank you for attending this event that supports our middle school band program. We cannot do what we do without the support of our SGCMS community.

We recently had a webinar to inform parents and students about the various opportunities available for high school coursework. This session focused on the current offerings of high school classes, specifically emphasizing the new flexibilities introduced by the Tennessee State Board of Education. I know many of you may have had obligations and we wanted to make sure the recording was available for those who couldn’t make the webinar. Parents or Guardians, our school will participate in a Life Choices Prevention Program starting February 25th. The program has a prevention educator team that consists of a male and female educator who are trained in Sexual Risk Avoidance. The male students will meet with the male educator and the female students will meet with the female educator. Also, students will be separated by grade band. All information presented to students is age appropriate and is available for your preview prior to the class. Ladies, get ready for an evening of glitz and glam in your Hollywood era! Dress to fit the Hollywood theme and join us for our annual Daddy Daughter Dance in the SGCMS Gym on February 8th from 6-8PM. Finger foods and drinks are complimentary. We've added a bracelet bar this year, which will be an additional $5 per registration. Registration forms will be sent home next week and are due by 2/3/25. There is both a Booster Club meeting and a PTO meeting tomorrow night at 6 PM at the school. Any parent that attends either meeting will receive a house points card for their student.

Important dates for 8th graders: There will be an 8th grade parent meeting at the high school on Thursday, January 23rd at 6pm. On Friday, January 24th, 8th graders will participate in an expo at the high school.

Three quick things … 1. This afternoon students will bring home their individual score sheet from the CASE benchmark in each subject. This will show your child’s achievement level on the standards covered during the 2nd 9 weeks. 2. Grades have been finalized for first semester and can be viewed via the parent portal. 3. With the low temperatures predicted for the next few weeks, this is just a reminder that the school doors do not open in the mornings until 7:15 AM.
